Let's face it: water heaters aren't very exciting. They don't come in bright colors, they don't move around, and they barely make noise. But what they lack in flash, they more than make-up for in function. And while they typically last for about a decade, you never know when yours might experience a problem. That's where we come in. When you discover a covered problem, you can simply place a service request online or call American Home Shield®.

American Home Shield will cover up to $1,000 should the contractor need to cut through concrete to access any system components.

Water Heater warranty coverage details

Covered:
All parts and components of the water heater unit including the tank, circulating pumps, mixing valves, and thermal expansion tanks
Not Covered:
Fuel storage tanks
Tempering tanks (holding and storage tanks)

Yes, all three of our home warranty plans, ShieldSilver, ShieldGold, ShieldPlatinum, include coverage for water heaters. 

All 3 of our home warranty plans include coverage for the parts and components of water heaters, including tankless heaters and circulating pumps. Note that we do not cover auxiliary holding or storage tanks, or fuel storage tanks. Please see the coverage details on the page above or the plan agreement for more information on limitations and exclusions. 

Our standard home warranty contract term is 1 year and renews for additional 1-year terms unless canceled. You can place your first service request 30 days after you sign up for your plan. You will not be charged until your coverage begins at the 30-day mark.

If we can’t repair your covered water heater, we’ll replace it subject to the limitations and exclusions in your plan agreement and remove the defective item.

You can place your first service request 30 days after you sign up for your plan. Service requests can easily be placed 24/7 online via MyAccount or by calling 1-888-691-2854 during standard business hours to request service.
