Protect your budget and make breakdowns less stressful with Home Appliances coverage from American Home Shield.
Let's face it, stuff breaks down. An American Home Shield home service plan can help make these inevitable breakdowns less stressful. As a member, you know your budget, your time and let’s be honest, your sanity, are covered.
American Home Shield® covers the essential laundry and kitchen appliances that keep your home running. Please click on each appliance for specific coverage details: Refrigerators, Ranges/Cooktops, Ovens, Dishwashers, Built-in Microwaves, Garbage Disposals, Clothes Washers, Clothes Dryers, and Instant Hot/Cold Water Dispensers.
Yes! We don't care how old your home systems and appliances are. You can purchase an American Home Shield home warranty without an inspection or maintenance records.
To expedite service on your request, American Home Shield will assign a contractor to reach out to you as quickly as possible. In some cases, American Home Shield may offer you the ability to choose your own contractors, also known as Outside Authorizations. If you choose to use outside authorizations, the service contractor must be licensed where applicable, qualified in the applicable state and trade, adequately insured for worker's compensation and third-party general, and have automobile liability coverage. The chosen contractor must provide a diagnosis and itemized bid to American Home Shield before any work is performed. American Home Shield will not reimburse you for services performed without prior authorization. You are responsible for paying the service contractor's charges and then must forward the invoice to American Home Shield for reimbursement less any applicable Trade Service Call Fee or costs not covered by your home warranty.
You'll pay a Trade Service Call Fee (which you select when you purchase your home warranty) each time a trade professional contractor (plumber, electrician, HVAC technician) comes to your home to provide service. For example, when both your toilet and your air conditioner break down, two kinds of trade professionals need to come out to fix your problem. The plumber can't fix the A/C. However, if your toilet and your sink break down (which are both plumbing issues), only one trade service professional will come out and you'll only pay one fee (plus sales tax where applicable). If the appliances and systems in your home are older, you may want to select a lower Trade Service Call Fee in case you end up using your plan more frequently. In a home with new systems and appliances, a higher Trade Service Call may be a better fit since you may not have as many service requests, but want the peace of mind of coverage.
No, we never limit the number of service requests you can make. With the ShieldGold™ plan, we will cover up to $3,000 for each covered appliance repair or replacement.
