How To use your home warranty

For members who purchased a home warranty for their current home, there is a 30-day activation period before you can start using your plan. If you purchased your warranty through a real estate transaction, your warranty is active at closing.*

    When your covered system or appliance breaks down, you can request service by logging into MyAccount or calling our Shield Agents at 800.776.4663.

    When you request service, you pay your to have a Pro diagnose your problem.

    We assign a Pro.


    A qualified, local Pro for our network** will contact you within 24-48 hours to schedule an in-home visit so they can diagnose the problem and identify a solution.

    In some areas, you may be able to choose a video diagnosis so your Pro can virtually inspect the issue and order parts prior to the in-home visit.

    Your Pro diagnoses and repairs the problem.


    We’ll pay for your covered item repair, up to your contract terms and limits. If your repair exceeds the limit of what your contract covers, we’ll inform you of any additional costs upfront so you can decide how to proceed.

    Your Pro diagnoses and repairs the problem.

*When home sellers add the Seller Coverage Option, their coverage begins immediately.     Prior to signing up for AHS, I heard so many bad things about home warranty companies, and I wasn't sure if this would be a good investment. My next door neighbor has AHS. Unfortunately, they had an AC unit stuck by lighting. My neighbor told me AHS repaired it with no issues, and very little out of pocket cost. With that I was sold. Since having AHS for over 2 years now, I've had 2 AC units repaired, an ice maker replaced, a garbage disposal replaced, and most recently a dryer repaired. All with no issues.     I had a breakdown of both my dishwasher and dryer in the same week. I scheduled a service online and could get the tech to come in within couple of days of the request. The tech diagnosed the problem and reported the findings to AHS. AHS was very efficient in ordering parts the same day and the tech was able to come and replace the parts for both the dishwasher and dryer that same week. All I had to lay was the $134 service call fee. Everything else including the parts and labor was taken care of. Overall I am very happy and satisfied with the AHS service.
