As a real estate professional, why not resolve to make 2017 your most successful year yet? The following checklist is stocked with helpful tips to help you achieve just that.

Return calls and emails ASAP.

Timely communication is good business in any industry; but it’s absolutely vital for a real estate professional, as it makes your clients feel important. Those are the people who want to work with you, as opposed to someone who makes them feel like afterthoughts.  Success is all about making contacts and chasing leads and, here, time is of the essence.

Make sure you’re tech-savvy.

The most successful real estate professionals are glued to their smart phones and tablets, and they secure optimal data plans that keep them connected 24/7, so they can check leads, read about the latest industry trends and develop an online presence. With technological advances happening seemingly by the minute, your success is tied to keeping abreast of the latest trends.

One word: Video.

If you haven’t utilized this powerful tool yet, make 2017 the year you start. Whether you use video as a way to introduce yourself to prospective clients, or as a means to capture your territory on film, this will definitely give you the edge you want and deserve.

Resolve to get leads in new and creative ways.

Be adventurous and source out leads in new and different ways by utilizing (even more) word-of-mouth, as well as all forms of social media…even by trying different ad campaigns while taking careful notice of what works and what doesn’t.

Start a blog.

This is an excellent way to share industry news and get your name out to influencers in your field. Make sure you’re sharing quality content and that your blog has a compelling title. Try to keep it at five hundred words with keywords and cited sources. Also, add links to similar articles by other real estate professionals who, in turn, will share your article with their social channels, thereby increasing its exposure.

Create a customized, mobile app.

This is a great way to utilize your personal branding while giving clients an easier way to not only access your products, but view the entire MLS. A mobile app also helps create a direct relationship with clients, increasing the likelihood of them calling you first. Something to consider: Almost 68% of home searches were conducted on a mobile app according to a 2016 Joint Study by the National Association of REALTORS® and Google, “The Digital House Hunt.”  Imagine how you can benefit from this valuable tool in 2017!

Use direct mail to keep your name top of mind.

This is a tried and true method that is well worth the investment. To keep costs down, consider teaming up with insurance agents and movers to send out relatively inexpensive, monthly postcards to the same areas in order to capture interest from potential buyers and sellers.

Pitch stories to reporters.

This is an easy way to establish yourself as an industry expert. Know what’s trending in the industry? Offer up “scoops” and reporters, perpetually hungry for stories, will continue to use you as a source for all, industry-related news and tidbits.

Strengthen your community presence.

This is another simple way to develop relationships and stay top-of-mind with potential clients. Take the time to attend sporting events, concerts, festival and other community gatherings.

Widen your network.

To serve your clients in the best way possible, you need a network of topnotch partners that will provide the same level of service, as you do. So strive to team up with the crème de la crème of contractors, appraisers, lenders and insurance providers in the industry.

Finally, don’t forget to tell your clients about the value of having an American Home Shield® Home Warranty, which can cover repairs or replacements of appliances and major components of essential home systems like heating and air conditioning.

Now — ready to take on the New Year? Hopefully, the above tips will inspire you to make 2017 your most successful and rewarding year as a real estate professional, ever!
