Ask the Pros
I have several trees limbs that hang over my roof, and a few dead branches are close to my chimney outlet. Is this a potential problem?
-Dennis, Round Rock, Texas
Yes. When it comes to a fire, the roof is the most vulnerable part of your house. The branches pose a safety concern, especially those near the chimney outlet. Cut back tree branches so they are at least 15 feet away from your house. This will also help prevent squirrels, raccoons and other small animals from getting onto your roof.
